IT might look like just a purely instinctive play, but David Fifita knows better.
The teenager put the Broncos into position for their late heroics against the Cowboys last Thursday night when he produced a try to level the scores at 12-all.
The Broncos went behind again 14-12 before a Jake Turpin try with a minute left gave them the two premiership points that has them in the top eight.
Fifita’s try was all power and speed as he bumped off Josh McGuire and then carried two defenders over the line.
But he also wanted to thank the sneaky inside ball from captain Darius Boyd, who called the play to garner a try assist.
Fifita said Boyd’s composure on his side of the field helped him to take opportunities.
“We practice that heaps during the week and it is something that I really like doing – to go back through the middle,” he said.
“Darius communicates really well with me and he just told me to go underneath him.
“Then I just backed myself to get to the line.
“It was a good result.”
The Broncos now await a home meeting with Penrith at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
The equation is simple – the winner of this game will hold seventh spot by the end of the weekend, while the loser could be out of the eight.
“Penrith will be tough, they are a good side,” said Fifita.
“We just have to get ready for a big game.”
